HELP! Urgent – Serious DB problems after a failed attempt to integrate BBPress

I have just got done completely screwing up the integration of BBPress, using instructions found here at the BBPress site.

Anyway I must have missed something because the integration didn’t work – after a bit of hair pulling I decided to ditch it and start again, so I deleted the whole thing from the server and reset the cookies / emptied my browser cache and went back into WordPress.

Now I have some real problems with a WordPress blog which was working perfectly before!

First of all, I can’t delete posts or pages. I can hit “Trash”, and I get a confirmation saying Post / Page has been trashed, but I no longer have the option to Delete them permanently, and even the Trashed ones still appear on the front-end.

Secondly, I get a 404 error for EVERY page and post, unless I am logged in. (These pages are all “Public”.

This is a client site; last full backup was Dec 28, and I have done heaps of upgrades on this site since then, not to mention not wanting to lose post data that has been added in that time by the client!! (yes, I know I screwed up with the backing-up before the BBPress fiasco)

If someone could help with this I would appreciate it hugely!!

P.S I have tried resetting the AUTH etc keys in config file, emptying the cache and ditching the WordPress .htaccess file – no joy!!
