Help understanding Optimole and hosting of images

    Hi, I have installed Optimole with the main reason being to remotely host images as my space at my ISP is rapidly running out. I have been using the following plugins to help maintain images; WP-Optimise (image compression), Thumbpress (trying to keep control of various thumbnail size creation), Media Library Folders (help organise images per category). Install has gone great, more room now available on the server, and everything is working as expected, images seem to be being pulled externally. However I still have over 800 images in my Media folder (not sure how many I had before to be honest but I’m guessing more as I have much more space on the server now). Why are these images still there? It seems Optimole has found the images in the folders created by Media Library Folders. Also, do I still need to have these other plugins enabled or are they now redundant?

    Hi @agblee1970,

    Thank you for reaching out and for using Optimole.

    The images remaining in your Media folder could be because they haven’t been offloaded yet. To offload them, please click the “Sync” button in the Optimole settings.

    Regarding your other plugins (WP-Optimize, ThumbPress), they are not necessary if you are using Optimole, as it handles image optimization and management. You can safely disable these plugins to avoid potential conflicts.

    Unfortunately using the sync button didn’t work, no additional images were transferred.

    I have checked and can see that you have offloaded a total of 1107 images to your Optimole account so far, can you please confirm the total number of images you have on the site?

    It gets a little complicated. As I said already the sync didn’t completely work, there are 837 items left on my local server. However as part of trying to continue (adding more images now I have more space) I’ve uploaded some other images, using the Media Library Folder plugin. But the uploads are sometimes failing so I have deleted and then reverted to putting the images 100 at a time directly into the Media Library. However when I then sync it fails, it already sees the images at Optimole so does nothing meaning the images are now left on the local server. And then to add pain to pain you can’t bulk delete images at Optimole so now I’m stuck. I have images that Optimole is not deleting locally and I can’t force Optimole to re-process the images it already has on its server.

    Put another way, if I delete something in my media library, it should automatically remove itself from Optimole, this would solve the problem, but unless I’m mistaken they remain at Optimole which is a problem.
