Problem solved. A setting in Sucuri scanner to harden the wp-includes directory was preventing PHP scripts from running at all. Fixed now.

You got that right. It used to be not a problem until recently. For now wp-include hardening disable fixes it. Thanks

    error tinymce ??

Since updating to version 4.2.3.1 other users cannot use visual editor.

    Now working!
Although I had deactivated Tiny MCE to no avail I deactivated all plugins and re-reinstalled them one by one. Hey presto it all seems to be working. Even Tiny MCE!

Yeah, these errors are usually caused by other plugins or incomplete WP update. Glad you resolved them ??

For me, Sucuri hardening of the /wp-includes directory was the issue. Reverted the hardening, and.. voila. Love Sucuri. But this is a real problem with using that plugin.
