When I updated Ignite today it didn’t work correctly. I don’t know what happened but WordPress switched to its 2015 theme with an error message that I can’t remember correctly and now is gone. I can’t see Ignite in the themes overview but I can’t install it, too, because it says it’s already installed. What happened? Dies enybody experiences the same problems?

Your WordPress installation and Ignite are both fine, this is just something that happens sometimes with the update process (it happens to me as well).

The fix is to connect to your server via FTP and delete Ignite from your server (wordpress/wp-content/themes/ignite). Then you can log into your site and reinstall and activate Ignite. You won’t lose any of your settings during this process.

I was able to successfully update, but if anyone else has this problem please let me know here.

We had a similar issue. Although I can not remember that we updated the theme. The website was blank for 1 or 2 days. But management to get into the admin section. WordPress told that the theme was broken, and after deactivating the theme, WordPress said that a file of the theme was missing. I think it was the Style Sheet. Removed the theme’s directory and reinstalled it. Didn’t work first time. But later tonight it did work. Think we get it working again. But it’s not a good experience.

    Thanks Ben, thanks timelezz!

It took a while, because we don’t have access to the ftp server on our own, and had to wait for the service. But today I discovered an in-wordpress way to delete the theme: The possibility showed up beneath the theme list. We tried a whole lot of themes before we decided for Ignite, so the list is long. Plus I had no idea where to search for it, that’s why I didn’t discovered that before.

Deleted and reinstalled it, didn’t work. The style.css still missing. But just as timelezz said, didn’t work first time. Deleted and reinstalled it again, worked. We’re happy again. Thank you!

edit: Oh and everything’s back the same. Configurations, style decisions, custom css, that was our biggest concern. What a relief!

    Great, glad to hear it!

I think perhaps there is an issue with the repository here itself since the theme itself hasn’t changed. I will review the last update and release a new one in hopes of stopping this from happening so often.
