• Working along editing a page today and notice there is no longer an Update button to save the changes I’m making. This is not just limited to the one page I was working on, none of the pages or posts have an update button available. However, in Appearance->Editor I do see the Update File button. I’ve refreshed, exited WP, exited Chrome, but when I log back in there’s still no Update button on pages or posts.

Oddly enough, if I reduce the size of my browser window below 760 wide, the Publish meta box shifts below the content editor, and then I do see the Update button. Widen it to more than 760 and the button is once again no longer visible.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.
