help, spam pluggins not working :)

  • hello,
    I have 4 “anti-spam” plugins installed and active but they are not stopping spam registrations on my website. I’m currently getting about 5 spam registrations per hour, so I am wondering if there is something I could do or a free plugin that is recommended? A lot of the anti spam suggestion for WordPress I find are outdated.

    I’m using Akismet, SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam,Stop Spammer Registrations Plugin, and WordPress Hashcash Extended….and they are not stopping the spam bots from registering on my site.

    Help and any advice would be much appreciated ??

  • In the options for SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam, set the difficulty level to High and be sure the box is checked for ‘Enable CAPTCHA on the register form`.

    Then, be sure that the CAPTCHA is showing on the registration form.

    ok thanks, captcha was showing up on the registration…I’ll try and move it to high and see if that helps.

    One other thought: Your site may have been hacked to provide a ‘back door’ for registration. Do a scan with the Sucuri tool:

    thanks my site came up clean on that site. I also installed Wangguard…they said use it for a week before it becomes effective. still getting a few spam registrations per hour at the moment
