• I have manually submitted my site to the major search engines, signed up with google webmaster tools, added robot.txt file. I also made sure that privacy was not restricted in adm panel. It has been about three weeks and the site is not indexed with any of the search engines. can someone please help.

    It can take Google anywhere from an hour to two years (I’m not kidding) to index your site. How they choose what and when to index is one of those closely guarded company secrets. Basically, you’ll just have to do your best and then wait.

    I noticed that you didn’t mention an XML sitemap. While an XML sitemap may not alert the Google Bot to your blog’s existence, it will certainly make it easier to index once it arrives. Try this plugin:

    all search engines are showing no indexing or listing. Bing reported this issue.? Blocked by REP
    Returns URLs that Bing has found, but has been prevented from indexing by the Robots Exclusion Protocol (REP). This exclusion could be specified in a webpage <meta> tags in your website’s robots.txt file, or in an HTTP header tag. Use this report to periodically review this list to ensure that these exclusions aren’t inadvertently blocking content

    My robots.txt file is
    User-Agent: *
    Allow: /

    i purchased this site https://www.real-dating-advice.com from a seller on Ebay with his hosting. I’m trying to learn more about web design, and thought it might be easier to learn with a prebuilt site. What i am starting to wonder is if there may be a possibility of him blocking search engines in order to get more money for unblocking them.

    Everything looks fine, but go to Settings/Privacy in the admin panel and make sure that “I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Bing, Technorati) and archivers” is selected.

    Since both your robots.txt file and robots meta tags are allow complete unrestricted access, I recommend removing them. Basically, if you’re going to leave the door open, a sign that says “Open” may just confuse people. So, delete the robots.txt file, then go to Appearance/Editor in your admin panel and open the Header template. Find and remove the following line:

    <meta name="robots" content="follow, all" />

    Unfortunately, most search engines cache robots exclusion rules for a while, so if the original owner had used robots exclusion rules to block the site from search engines before you go it, you might be waiting around for a while before the search engines realize that anything has changed.
