Help regaining control of web site

  • I had a guy build a web site for me several years ago using wordpress. he did a nice job but he’s gone on to bigger and better things for himself and has blown me off. Won’t return calls or emails for support.
    He did some unique things in wordpress to help give me more flexibility with the site but now I can’t get any photos or graphics to upload and I don’t have any control over one of the three columns of the web site.
    my immediate problem is when I try to upload a picture I get this error message:
    “New sportcam.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
    Unable to create directory /home/allsta8/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2009/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    second question is, can I just choose a new theme and blow this out and start over?

  • Choosing a new theme won’t take away the problem you have.

    You need to change the permission on your uploads folder via FTP to 755 to get your uploads working.
