• Using ‘Forever’ Theme. The ‘Read More’ tag does not work on my posts. I’m new to blogging, I just made my blog and I wan’t to have the Read More on my first post before I publish it.

I make a new post, attach 2-3 pictures to it, and what I want is for it to simply just show the name of the post, and the pictures, and then read more, to read the text that I’ve put with it.

I’ve been sitting with this for hours, reading forums ect and I’m absolutely about to pull my hair out in frustration.

One thing I’ve noticed is people saying on forums of the same topic – go to front page templates and write/replace this and that code, and this should work. I am new, WHERE AND HOW do I find/enter these templates??? Can it be done on the web?? Please tell me which tab i have to click ect to find these templates and edit them if that’s what I need to do too?

  • There is a “Continue Reading ->” feature in the Forever theme. I installed Forever on my blog and I can see the Continue Reading option. However as I scrolled to older posts, I could see your problem.

For some reason, if the post has a featured image, the “Continue Reading” option works fine but without a featured image, the whole post is directly shown.

A quick solution for you is to create a small featured image (Edit Post -> Set Featured Image at the right side of the screen) and add it to your post. You will see the “Continue Reading” option on the home page.

When I click add media – featured image -> add featured image
The image doesn’t appear and it don’t show on my post at all when I preview it either.? Am I doing something wrong? but Nor do I see the continue reading option, only the read more?

I just saw your updated website. It is a customized version of Forever, so it is hard for me to determine what is causing the issue. Adding the more tag will usually split the post text.

I only paid the 30 dollars to customize colors design. If I have by mistake unchecked or changed some other settings somewhere I don’t know, I’ve been messing around with it quite a bit here and there to see what changed what when I made it look the way I wanted it to. But I haven’t changed templates or coding and such as I don’t know how… Is there a tab I should check my settings in? – writing, reading? anything?

?? I really don’t get it. Everyone else I know with a blog says theirs does it automatically. it should be simple, shouldn’t it?

You will get a better response from the folks over at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/

Do keep in mind that there is a difference between .com and .org support forums. ??
