Help putting the right code to use any of the video lightbox plugins
-
I am trying to use any of the various lightbox plugins available to make a video thumbnail on my site turn into a youtube lightbox that will play the video when the thumbnail is clicked.
The Vancouver Photo Marathon site has this (when you click “Videos”), although I just want my image to be a simple thumbnail.
I have tried Lightbox Plus, WPVideoLightbox, WP-Prettyphoto, EZ Overlay, and Easy FancyBox. I have Fancy Gallery (lite) activated for use with images. All others are deactivated for now.
Apparently writing the right code in my HTML box in a post is so simple that I can’t find any explanations on exactly how to do it. A lot of instructions I’ve found say “just include rel=”fancybox” or class=”fancybox” in your link,” but I think I have to do some more setup than that.
I like what EZ FancyBox does with regular embeds (just pasting the YouTube URL into the HTML box) on iPhone – it plays the videos and then you can return straight back to the page.
If only someone could help me write the HTML so that I could get a box to pop up when I’m viewing the page in a regular browser!
Update: I just paid $35 to buy the WP Ultimate Video Lightbox plugin, and I’m not happy with it. It takes me straight to YouTube when I play the videos on my iPhone.
Please somebody tell me there’s a way to get videos embedded correctly without wanting to kill myself!! Thank you!
