Help! Plugin automatic update changes FTP file owner!

  • I’m having a major problem with the plugin auto-update feature. When I auto-update a particular plugin, the FTP ownership of the file or folder changes from my FTP username into ‘httpd’. With the changed ownership I can’t do anything to the file/folder because I’ve lost all access to it except through WordPress auto-update. This means I can’t delete, overwrite or even CHMOD it.

    I’ve even tried accessing it from my host’s control panel’s file manager but even then, I couldn’t do anything to the files/folders. Please help!!
