Help please with uploading files

I am trying to install plug ins,the first thing I am told is to upload the files to the wp-content/plugins directory…sounds simple.
But I dont know how.
Can someone please tell me how that is done.
I have the files downloaded on my comp,but I need to get it to the plug in directort.

The plugin I am trying to install is the stats
