help please with more feature !

    Hello everyone,

    I have a slight problem with the more feature on my site;

    The problem is that on the end of each post extract/snipet that is displayed on the home page, there is [….] and most of my members are expecting this to be a clickable link to read that whole post ! The trouble is there is no link at all, the only way to access the whole post is to click the title and there is nothing to indicate that is what users should do.

    One other problem I have is with WordPress 2.8, I tried to upgrade but when I did it totally disabled all java script on my site, the feature box and tabbed side bar widget were as if jammed and the only way I could get them all back working again was to install a back up I had taken. I have since disabled the tabbed side bar widget, but am still using the feature box slider.

    I am not 100% certain that it is WordPress that is causing these problems & not the theme I am using, however I have to start somewhere so I’d be very grateful if anyone can point me to a solution for either of these issues.
    Oh by the way the theme I am using is Blu Mag although it has been changed quite a bit.

    Problem 2: WordPress didn’t disable your javascript, as such. It’s simply that some plugins aren’t currently compatible with WP 2.8 yet.

    Good point. I forgot this was a 2.7.1 install. Plus I’m a bit cagey about recommending plugins right now, :-/

    yes, it is 2.7.1 at the moment but when reading the question I read 2.8 . That’s why I said try! He is still developing the site.

    Hi Guys,

    thanks for the response, I will give the plugin a go henkholland oh and esmi, the problem I encountered with 2.8 & java script, was not actually plugins, it is java scripts that are part of the theme I have used, eg. the feature block & a tabbed sidebar widget for posts & categories.
    Because of this I think it is probably more likely that the theme needs updating to suit 2.8 as I haven’t heard of similar problems encountered by other users.

    I have the same problem with the tabbed sidebar & feature block for the Blu Mag theme. They are not plugins but instead java script in the theme as c3It1957 mentioned. Has anyone been able to fix this?

    Hey jlighthall,

    I have just been reading a post by the guy that built Blu Mag & he is aware of the problem with 2.8 and says it is due to WordPress not including a script file called jquery….? I Know this file is to do with java script & obviously if missing then I would expect things not to work.

    I have reverted back to 2.7.1 until they can sort out whatever this problem is, I also note that a few other themes are also suffering the same or similar problems.

    So the normal method doesn’t work then?

    jQuery is already available in WordPress using the above, unless the author is suggesting you must include “the newest version”, then the above should work just fine in the <head> of your theme header.php…

    Resulting output from the above will be..
