Help please

  • A user of your wordpress tool is using it very inappropriately. He has placed it on his website and is using it to hurl very abusive and racial comments at people including my friends. I find this very offensive and totally unacceptable. He goes by the name dannn I urge you to do something about this as soon as possible.     I hate to tell you but the people here have no control or say over what someone puts on their self-hosted wordpress blog.

    You, in fact, just provided a little more traffic for that blog. I just read most of the posts.

    Im sorry but u cant just let someone like this guy just put people down and abuse their families, race etc and say its perfectly fine. Manager, moderator or whatever do sumthin about this guy or im takin it higher.

    The site in question is hosted on a private domain and we have absolutely no control over it whatsoever.

    The fact it is using this software is irrelevant in this instance.

    The only people who can take action are the owners of the domain or the webhosting company.

    It is not a matter of us just letting it go,we simply do not have any control over it in any form.

    You raise some interesting questions, since beyond the fact that what shadow said is accurate, it IS this person’s web site to do with what he wishes and there is absolutely nothing “illegal” about his content. You might not care for it — and it might be mean spirited, but that’s not a crime. Unless you’re in China, Cuba, etc..

    Thats probably what you need to do.

    You need to complain to the guy’s hosting service. Run a WHOIS, etc.

    WordPress has nothing to do with this. It’s just a tool.

    Blaming WordPress is like blaming a pen manufacturer because someone wrote something racist on a bathroom wall.

    And yeah, you ARE providing this guy with traffic by posting the link. If I were you I would remove the link, and pursue complaining to his hosting service.

    But there are plenty of racist blogs out there, this is hardly a unique situation.
