PLEASE HELP! I have searched this forum for an answer, but nothing seems to come close to what I am dealing with.

PROBLEM: I am seeing NO graphic images either in WP or the admin areas. (no pics, buttons, bars.. not even template previews!)

This has been tested in ALL of the main browsers (latest versions) with same issue. Also, tested by several people who are remote from my own location to make sure it was not my computers… still the same issue across the country. I need ideas!?

    BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

MAIN SITE –> https://www.camelotsign.com — is working GREAT on WP 3.3.2! Everything shows up fine. This is in the main home directory of the server we are on. (hosted @ Pagematic.com – I have been with these people for almost 10 years and NEVER had a problem with any sites, nor any of my clients’ sites.)

Now, I had several other sites, each on separate hosting packages with them, and ALL were either on WordPress OR Joomla, working without any issues at all. We decided to save some money on hosting and combine them (as Add-On Domains) under the main Camelot site above.

I have always worked in Joomla, and decided to give WP a try as a CMS instead of “just a blog”. I LOVE IT! I have decided to go with ALL sites on WordPress now, as it suits us perfectly ??

SETUP: I have created the Add-On domains as follows under Camelotsign.com (all in the /public_html/ folder):
    1) https://www.kdhmarketing.com (custom Artisteer Theme)
    2) https://www.covebabies.com (custom Artisteer Theme)
    3) https://www.pdplustraining.com (WP 2011 included theme – no changes)

Since I have just done this, they are all pretty empty, but there is some sample info to look at for testing. ALL Installs were done into the root of each domain, so there is no sub-directory to worry about there.

If you will just take a look at any of the 3 listed sites, you will see text, and you will likely see TWO images on KDHMarketing – those are external from Amazon.com. I have no problem bringing in external graphics — only the ones that are home-based. NONE of my own are showing up on any of these sites.

I have not changed ANYTHING in the install – I allowed the server to automatically install it (using Softlicious). All of the WP install defaults have remained in place.

The site at https://www.pdplustraining.com is a CLEAN install – no additional plugins have yet to be added. I wanted to be sure nothing interfered with it. But still… no images!

I have searched and searched now for almost 2 weeks to figure out what the issue is. I even thought maybe a WP upgrade issue, so I backed down to 3.3.1 and checked — same issue. Now we are back on 3.3.2 again.

    CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!
    Thank you so very much!
    Kim

    ** SIDE NOTE**
OH! I just thought of this…. under KDHMarketing.com there is also a store created in osCommerce. It is also having the SAME issue of no graphics or buttons. Can this maybe be a server problem??

Also, my hosting person said he could see everything. Could it maybe be that he was viewing it on the home server and not from a remote computer? Would that make a difference?

  • Check that anti-hotlinking isn’t enabled in your hosting account. If it is, try disabling it.

Thank you… it was enabled. I disabled it and made sure ALL of my sites were listed as allowed for direct access.

    Still no images ??

BTW… you will see FLASH in the header banner at KDHMarketing.com. It does show that, but no static images.

Thanks again… I will keep searching!!

    Check files/folder permissions

Did that too… then I got to thinking about all the .htaccess files….

Well, I noticed a difference between a couple of them and decided to try something. At the bottom where it does the REWRITE statement and lists the types of image extensions, there was a code: [F, N].

All the rest of the lines of Rewrites only had the [N]. So I decided to try it without the [F] and see what happened.

I made the change to each .htaccess file in the main WP directory for each site listed. (I copied the original file and saved it to a new file name so I could recover it if needed.)

LO and BEHOLD! I now have ALL images on ALL sites! YAY!!

So THANK YOU for your input… and I hope this post will help someone else in the future ??

    You guys ROCK!
    Kim
