• I messed up a previous post when I tried to edit in a link to my site. Any attempt to access my web site is extremely slow, if it even loads. I am a novice at this and could use some suggestions that a beginner can comprehend. My site was very quick to load until recently and I had not changed anything that I know of that would have caused the slow down. I have run kingdom. com tests and though I do not completely understand the results, there are some problem areas. Right off the bat there was a 16 second wait before anything happened. Either via ftp client or through your host’s file manager tool. I usually use the latter because ftp can do ugly things to a file’s format. Most host’s have a file manager option in their admin panel (often cpanel).

@webbrewers is right, @benhopson. The wp-config.php file should be at the “root” of the website in the same folder as the wp-admin, wp-includes, and wp-content folders.

Thank you both. I have the password issue resolved now and the site can be accessed.

It is a relatively small site and was loading very fast until a few months ago. The slow down seemed to occur suddenly. I will probably have to talk to the host support team to get to the reason for the slow access.

I did open a GoDaddy support ticket and had them take a look at things. They suggested that I move the deluxe classic hosting to their grid hosting system, which I did. It seems to have much improved the slow loading problem I was having.

    Thanks for all the help.

I re ran the pingdom.com speed test and load time has improved from 95% slower than all sites tested to 70% faster than tested sites. I am happy with the results after switching to the grid hosting.
