• Everything’s been going great. I’m blogging daily. Now suddenly, I’m getting this error when I try to access my blog pages:

    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

The blog is self-hosted and it’s here: https://evamoon.net/blog/

The rest of the site is up and running, so I know it’s not my server that’s down and it happens even when trying only to view the blog – so I know it’s not a username/password issue.

    What can I do?

    Thanks,

    Eva

  • If it was working – contact your host.
(The rest of the site might be not database driven, so it still can work)

UPDATE: It seems to have fixed itself. Sorry for the panic attack!

    So, it was this option:
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

Thank you. I didn’t realize the database server was different from the file server. All the WP files are in the same place as my website files. I’ll know for next time.
