• Please help. In Internet Explorer, both 7 & 8 versions, my blog at https://www.fixmyuglycredit.com/blog will not load.

    Webpage Script Errors:

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729)
    Timestamp: Sat, 29 Nov 2008 18:35:36 UTC

Message: ‘document.getElementById(…)’ is null or not an object
    Line: 9
    Char: 2
    Code: 0
    URI: https://fixmyuglycredit.com/blog/wp-content/themes/UBDMoneymakerTheme/js/library.js

    I have:

    *Cleared all cookies
*Confirmed everything is fine in FireFox.
*Uninstalled & re-installed IE, reverting to IE 7 as well (same issue).

Thank you for any help you’re able to offer.

    Mike

  • Sorry, but this has been covered loads of times in these forums. There is pasted text from MS Word in a post or posts of your blog and that stops subsequent posts on the page from displaying in IE.

Edit the content of the post/s to strip out the code that pasting from MS Word has added, and your blog will then work normally again.

Your blog comes up fine in IE7. But it is full of errors, check here, that will effect your performance.

Well I’m using IE7 and there’s only one post and only the top half of the blog showing when I view it so I don’t think it ‘comes up fine’ at all. The main page display stops when the first instance of <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w :WordDocument> is encountered within the first post on the page, and that is because it’s text that has been cut and pasted direct from MS Word by the admin or an author.

Oops, I spoke too soon. The error in IE still reports the following error when trying to load:

    Webpage Script Errors

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729)

Message: ‘document.getElementById(…)’ is null or not an object
    Line: 9
    Char: 2
    Code: 0
    URI: https://fixmyuglycredit.com/blog/wp-content/themes/UBDMoneymakerTheme/js/library.js

Is this some kind of javascript error? If so, what JS error? If not, what could it be keeping this site from loading in IE?

    Mike

Do not copy and paste from MS Word because it adds junky code that IE hates. Either remove the bad code or repaste your text from a text editor like notepad. The bad code starts with:

    <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml>

After removing the bad Word code (you MUST do this) and if the problem remains, try switching to the default WordPress theme and see if the problem goes away. If it does, then it is a problem with your current theme.

Resolved! I missed a couple posts with MS Word junk code. Once I stripped it out, all is good in IE. ??

Thanks again for helping me. I really appreciate it.

    Your welcome.
P.S: You can set this thread to Resolved now ??
