This doesn’t sound like a WP related problem but rather one related to either your server or more likely yr computer’s media player.

Can you provide a link to the file so I can see what it does when I try it? And have you tried various media players & browsers to see if that makes a difference?

Usually the chipmunk-speed problem has to do with the encoding rates of your mp3.
