I am building a new site with the latest WP and a child theme of Clean-Box. I also have several plugins. Recently, WP, Clean Box, and a few plugins all updated.

Today I added one more plugin (Smart Slider 3) and added a few photo galleries with it.

I then checked the site and the menu is no longer working in responsive design. Instead, mere white space appears where the menu should be when tapped. If you tap again, the site crashes.

I have no idea when this happened as I did not check the site when it updated last week, so I cannot point the blame at Smart Slider.

I tried deactivating all plug-ins: no change.

Now what do I do? This is a whole month of work down the drain if I cannot fix it!

    build site is https://new.mademers.com

I reactivated the parent theme and this solved the problem. However, the changes I made in the child theme are merely cosmetic, things like removing the grey line around the boxes, changing the font size and color, and removing page titles. No changes to any of the PHP files or javascript (that’s beyond me anyways).

    Any ideas anyone?

I’m thinking that either the theme update or the WordPress update messed up the loading of the child theme or something.

I’m going to repost elsewhere since I now have a better idea of what has happened.
