Help me with Membership Lite

All I am trying to do is have a free section and one subscription-based section.

The free section shows up exactly like I want it. Any visitors to the page who aren’t yet signed up can only access the front page, the disclaimer, and the sign up form.

Now here’s my problem. After they create an account it takes them to the subscription menu where there choose which plan they want, BUT they can access areas that I don’t want them to have access to unless they’re paying members.

Any clue how to fix this? Not quite sure MembershipLite denotes who paid and who didn’t in order to put those restrictions.
