Check your server stats. Are you using a lot of memory/cpu?

Are you running a lot of plugins you don’t need?

    Could you optimize your theme?

have you tried a caching plugin like WP Super Cache, or W3 Total Cache?

    # WP Memory Limit: 128M
    # PHP Memory Limit: 128M
    Memory Usage: 77.46M/256M

82 pluggins, used to power the buddypress site, along with Comet Chat

Theme is basic buddy press theme

I am running W3 Total Cache

What do I need to do to improve the load times?

    Check your server load.

82 plugins is … a lot. I’d start with tweaking W3TC. Minimize as much as you can, if you’re not already.

Whats the best procedure to check the server load?

I will see if I can cut the plugins to half after we check the server load

Your host should have a cpanel or such where it shows you the server load. It’s a bit different on each host, so you may need ot ask.

Indeed I have cpanel, I just need to know where to look

Like I said, it’s a bit different on each host, so you may need to ask. On mine I have an icon for ‘server status’.

    Go ask your webhost.

So now that we know this, How do we improve the load time?

That’s not abnormal load time. Have you asked your host for help?

Honestly, if you’re new enough that finding your server stats like that was tricky, I’m inclined to think W3TC is a bit over your head right now. It’s a great plugin, but it is HELLA complicated, and the odds are you haven’t optimized it to the fullest.

    Ipstenu,

I sent a support ticket in asking the host for help.

let’s hear your recommendations for optimizing W3TC.

If anyone else wants to chime in with suggestions to make ginreviews.com faster, please do.

That’s the problem ?? I CAN’T give you recommendations for the same reason the author doesn’t. Every single server setup is different enough that there is no, one, perfect way.

At the very least, I would say this, if you don’t have any Dedicated/VPS options (like Opcode or memcache) then you should try WP Super Cache INSTEAD of W3TC.

If you do have Opcode, use that for Page Cache.

Minify should be disk cache. Set it to Auto and see if that works. If you’re using robust child themes, you may need to do it all manually, and that takes a lot of trial and error.

You can google for suggestions on how to best optimize W3TC.
