Help! Just upgraded to 2.6.1 and cannot login! Have tried deleting cookies

Thanks for the instructions to change the password via the php DB.

I have done this but my subsequent log in attempt fails.

I do not get an “incorrect username or password” error message, I simply do not get logged in and I contunue to be faced with the log in page.

I have cleared all cokkies and triued via Firefox & IE7 but still no luck.

Even if I register as a regular new user, the log in credentials that I get sent, act in the same way as described above.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Hey there. It happened to me, too. I tried all that other stuff.

This is what worked for me:

Make sure you delete the file when you’re done changing the password.

I then had to delete my temporary files on IE to get rid of whatever it thought I was trying to login with. Then went back to the Login page and it worked.
Immediately went in and changed the admin password and deleted that emergency.php file. I actually named it something else before putting it in my blog directory in case I forgot to delete it right away.
