    Hi,

I created a staging site but jetpack recognized my original site as a copy and enabled safe mode on it. When I turned safe mode off it deleted all of my existing analytics (I guess I did it wrong or something, but the instructions weren’t clear since I don’t think the original site is supposed to be detected as the copy).

Anyways, is there any way to get these stats back?

    Thanks,
    Hugh

    Hi @hughjiang,

Could you post your staging and production site URLs here, so I can have a look?
    ?

    Thanks for the reply Stef!

    My production site is https://get-green-now.com/

    The testing site is https://test.hughjiang.com/

The testing site is password protected with password b4eP?]xAw_ (right now it’s just a copy of the original site so I don’t mind sharing).

For now, I’ve disabled jetpack stats on both sites. Let me know if it has to be enabled for troubleshooting.

    Hi @hughjiang,

    Thanks for those details.

I’ve merged the stats from your testing site into your production site. You can verify these updates by logging in to WordPress.com and going to the link below:

    https://wordpress.com/stats/insights

From there, choose the site you’d like to view stats for.

Important: it looks like Jetpack isn’t properly connected to your production site right now because of some issues with your Cloudflare configuration. Please see their documentation at this link for 520 errors. Once you’ve resolved that, please reconnect Jetpack.

A final note: in the future, when you’re moving between development and live sites, make sure to disconnect Jetpack in both places first. You’ll find this at Jetpack > Dashboard in your WP Admin. Scroll down to find the Connections area. Click the “Manage site connection” link where your site is listed. Next, click the red Disconnect button: https://d.pr/i/GS0Jww

After you’ve got your site cloned or moved from staging to live (or whatever else your situation is), you can reconnect both sites to Jetpack.

Let us know when you need us in the future.
