I was trying to follow the instructions for substituting my own image file for the kubrick header image. I loaded the image file to my server, substituted the text and now I’m getting this error message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’ in /home/.muensterwasher/flwrhead/trailingyarn.com/wp-content/themes/default/header.php on line 40

I have looked EVERYWHERE in the header.php file and can’t find an extra parenthesis.

At this point, I just want to get it back where it was and I’ll deal with it later. Please help!

  • I hope you have a backup copy of the original file – upload it and you shoulod be OK.
If you don’t have a backup… well, that’s a lesson for the future. And download the WP package from here and get a new copy of the file.

If I’d been smart about it, I’d have copied the entire text into word and then I could have pasted it into the file when I killed it, but hey, I’m not that smart today apparently.

If I download and replace the WP package, will it replace all my posts, pictures, etc.?

Sorry, I know this is probably a really stupid question, but I don’t know anything about computer programming.

Okay, nevermind. I got the info from the backup file on my server. Thanks anway!

    1. Never touch Word when working with WP files!
    2. I didn’t say to replace ALL the files – just that one header.php of the theme that you screwed up.

BTW, except the pictures, all your content (posts, Pages, comments, settings) are stored in the database.

    Okie dokie!

BUT – can you possibly help me with using the random header generator plugin? I installed it some time ago, but when I try to designate which images I want to use, the drop down menu box is like – two characters wide, and I can’t select the images. Any idea what’s up with that? Should I delete the file and reload it? Any suggestions?

    Hire a programmer? haha!

Sorry, I have no idea how that thing works. When it comes to plugins I am on the minimalistic side ??
