i looked at my website the other day and noticed that there was a problem with the theme cos everything was right aligned with the theme missing.

I also noticed that at the bottom of the page, there were links to options in my dashboard that shouldn’t be there at all, stuff that only admin are allowed to view.

i have this plugin which tells me when my files have been changed, and i kept getting emails to say a whole bunch of files have been changed at times when i haven’t been online to change anything. I don’t know how it’s happening. I use Cloudflare and maybe the hackers have found a way to change my files through that?

I uploaded a backup of my database and I went offline for a while. then i got an email to say such and such files have been changed while i’ve been offline. how can i secure my files from being changed?

If you can use a different IP while cleaning up the hacked site, you may want to ban the old IP.

If not, you may want change login credentials. Use a really strong password.

The easiest way is still to use search. Then you can look at the stars and read the reviews.

Because of possible differences in physical servers, accounts, hosts, plugins, theme, configurations, etc., your instance is likely to be completely different that of anyone else. You just have to try and see what works for you.

and i keep getting emails saying files have been changed when i haven’t even been online. and other emails to say that my sites are under a brute force attack.

You are correct. The site reports above are on the actual Hostgator 403 message. Sorry.

Follow what Tara suggested and let your host know.
