• I am hoping someone can help me. I am code illiterate! I am pretty sure I have the Google verification code on my site twice. My bounce rate is usually .90 – which is obviously wrong. I think my other stats are fine, as they are very close to my WordPress stats report.

I found the code that looks like it might be duplicated – but I am terrified of deleting something that I shouldn’t. Can anyone help an illiterate coder out and tell me if you see a duplicate Google verification code that I should delete? Thanks!!

This is the some code in my header:

    <meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”7EVPJPI9z54aeaPqeNULRzqF6DH1bX7zo38V92t-DFw” /><meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”ZQz_IA9Ck8PDUMII9P2bcYUO4MN_CWqlwIAvIUQHioI” /><meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”ZQz_IA9Ck8PDUMII9P2bcYUO4MN_CWqlwIAvIUQHioI” /><meta charset=”<?php bloginfo( ‘charset’ ); ?>” />

  • Not sure if this is what affects the bounce rate, but sure it is duplicated.

    meta name="google-site-verification" content="ZQz_IA9Ck8PDUMII9P2bcYUO4MN_CWqlwIAvIUQHioI" />

This is present twice. So should be safe to remove one.

That has nothing to do with bounce rates. People are going to your site and not “digging in”. That’s a content issue.

@sterndata the bounce rate is .90 – that is really low. It should be 60-80% – not .90. I read that when your bounce rate is that low it must be an error. Thanks Surya for the help.

When I go to your site, I see some content, then within a second, it’s replaced by other content. I suspect that’s what’s causing the bounce. It’s too fast for me to see exactly what’s going on, but I suspect this “issue” you see with bounce rate has to do with how your theme does this.

Thanks for checking my site. That is so weird. There is a welcome mat pop up that shows up and then when you click the mat it goes to the home page. Was it the welcome mat? Thanks for your help. In the past I had an issue with adware that would redirect people to a spam ad, but I stopped using that ad network. I hope you aren’t seeing an ad?
