Help! I dont know what I'm doing!

  • Hey everyone! Hopefully you can help me…

    I’ve been trying to get my site up and running for about 6 months now, and I keep having problems. Mainly because I have no idea how to use wordpress, and everyone who has promised to show me how, just ends up telling me “mess around with it.” Someone did set up a multi-column theme and backround image for me, but nothing i did with the theme options actually changed anything in the layout. For example, before I even knew what they were called, I tried to take away (or add/change) the sidebars, but nothing happened (could i have been messing up something else?). So I went into the editor and started deleting scripts by hand. I got rid of all the sidebars and crap that way, BUT now the page has a 404 error, and I cant post anything on the page. Ive deleted and re-installed different themes many times, but none of these issues are resolved. I just dont know what to do, or even what to look for to help me out. PLEASE HELP!

    There are books, WordPress for Dummies, as example – I have that one.

    No doubt there are lots of online tutorials also.

    If all else fails consider wordpress.com where things are easier to manage.

    Thats really helpful, thankyou. But the person who set up my site to begin with knew what they were doing with scripts and all, but then they bailed on the project. So i feel like a noob trying to deal with a site thats already written in an advanced language. Even if i read into the tutorials for help… I dont even know what Im suppose to be searching for. I dont even know whats wrong with my webpage… All i know is that it’s just not right, due to a 404 error and it wont let me post. Im sure there are other issues i dont even realize yet. And those mysterious issues, are what i believe, to be preventing me from actually fixing anything… but i dont even know where to begin searching for help.

    Whats the difference between www.remarpro.com and wordpress.com??? Now Im really f*ckin confused.
