    Hello

I have a trial site in which the google map does come up.

Am trying to move to a live site and have entered same details into the same event but google map refuses to appear.

Why oh why? This is sriving me round the proverbial bend!

    Suggestions please!

    Geoff

come on someone ! I must be missing something obvious?

Each entry has a link to Google map and they work fine -just that the map does not show up on the Event page. I have ticked that option …

Another related oddity – the site where the google maps are absent was finally created by moving files from another website using the Duplicator plugin – the new website worked fine except that the link to the Events Calendar just left a blank page.

From memory I think the Events Calendar plugin was there but I had to activate it. Not sure about this but do not want to have the repeat the move to check this!

To repeat the google maps were there on the original site!

    Cheers

I seem to be only able to speak to myself!!!!

The important aspect to me is that both sites are on the same webhosting system and as far as I can see have the same Events Calendar settings yet on one the Google maps are there and on the other they are not.

    Surely this is a clue?!

still searching around for a solution!

I keep seeing mention of need for a Google maps api but the trial site of mine does NOT have this and the Google maps are there. It is the public site where the maps fail to appear.

    ??

A little more info! both my sites hosted on same servers with the same Events Calendar settings and the same Theme, Twenty Seventeen and same version of WordPress, the latest.

No Google Map API keys used for Events Calendar on either and have also de-activated other plugins on the second site and that did not solve the problem.

    this has Google map

    this does not

    Cheers

    Re Google Map API key

even though the first site shows the maps and does not have a key I have created and entered a key for the other site – still no maps!

    Finall success !!!

I kept getting an error using the Google suggested *fred.com/* and used instead https://fred.com/* (google search came up with this idea) and low and behold the maps appeared!

What I do not understans is the my test site does not have a key and yet the maps are there?! Perhaps someone can explain that?

    Cheers

    Hi @gcwp,

Sorry for the delay, however we do not provide daily coverage on these forums. Instead, we may only pass through once every 10 days or thereabouts (simply because we have a large number of premium customers and it is only fair to prioritize them).

What I do not understans is the my test site does not have a key and yet the maps are there?! Perhaps someone can explain that?

Certainly for a considerable amount of time, the need for a Google Maps API key was something of a soft requirement. Whether you truly required it could depend on numerous factors including how many other sites hosted at the same IP address might be doing the same thing.

It is, in essence, something that depends on the particular criteria Google are enforcing. Adding an API key is definitely recommended, though.

    Finall success !!!

Great to hear things were ultimately resolved, though ??
