    Hi,

    Short Story:

My mate had promised me to help me make a WP site for a Kayaking Club that asked me to make a site for them. I’m more a graphic designer/video producer. Anyway, he said he wouldnt do it last week, on the grounds of getting nothing for him! So, unable to get a new “mate”, I need to make this site myself.

The Club require a site that can be updated easily from anywhere in the world, which has a blogging style. I have done basic html and am familiar with the very basics of Dreamweaver. If I make this site I can get credits for a course I’m doing, so I’m keen to do it!

What I need to do is create a site from scratch, or edit a template so it suits our existing designs. It needs to have video( YouTube embedded), photos and, of course, blogging.

I have searched the web, but due to my lack of knowledge I couldnt sort the good from bad as far as tutorials go.

Can anybody suggest an ebook, site, blog or set of tutorials that can help me make this site!? (Hopefully free???)

    Thanks in advance!

Setting up WP is not too hard. Just start reading the “docs” (see link on top of this page). When you have a system/host that lives up to the requirements, installing WP doesn’t take that much time. You’ll immediately have a blog-like website with a login that can accessed from anywhere in the world and you can add users so different people can write with their own login. Af for the rest, you will need to find a “theme” (see the “extend” tab above) that looks like you want and when you want to edit it, you’ll have to learn a bit of CSS and PHP, but my advice is to not try to do too much at the same time, so just install WP, look for a descent theme and start blogging.
