• Hello, I’m a beginner on wordpress. I have recently made my own website to display photography projects, with a very simple design. Everything is working fine and as expected, except one thing : when seen on mobile, the menu (that appears permanently on the left of the screen on a desktop screen) is moved to the bottom of the page. This is very impractical.

I would like the menu to be accessible when clicking a button at the top of the page on mobile, and to disappear from the bottom of the page. I have not been able to do it through the personnalization options of the theme for the menu on wordpress, which don’t seem to have any effect on that.
    Thanks for your kind help.

  • Hello @theolefort,

You’re not using a header on your website, which is not recommended.

You have placed your navigation into a sidebar so the mobile menu can’t be triggered because technically it doesn’t exist, so you have two options.

Either you enable a header and choose the vertical style if you’re fond of it (Appearance > Customize > Header > General), or you go to change the style for your mobile pages with the sidebar appearing before the content (Appearance > Customize > General Options > General Settings, and find the Mobile Sidebar Order dropdown menu then choose Sidebar/Content).

Hope this helps. Best of luck with your website

Hello @wpfleek and thanks for your answer. YOu are right, what I was looking for is the option to set up a menu in the header.
I’ve tried to do as you told me and I’ve created a header. In the theme panel, I made a model for this header so that it includes a menu. I’ve put every option to display the menu and the header but still I can’t find a way to display my menu in the header.
You can see better what I mean if you check the home page https://theolefort.com/
Plus, there is now a big black empty space on top of the website.

Thanks a lot for your help

Actually, I just found out how to do it. Now the only thing I can’t figure out is how to remove the big black space on top of every page. I tried deactivating the top bar and reducing the height of the header but it didn’t work. Thanks

    Hello @theolefort,

Any chance you can share some screenshots because I’m not seeing any big black space on top of your pages? Thank you
