Help fix a few issues here

    Hi,

    I am using Arclite theme with several plug ins here: https://www.evolve-forever.com. I have used several pages and they are displayed in top navigation bars. There’s an Index page (Articles) which shows excerpts (selected in Arclite settings) but the ‘Read the rest..’ link is missing. I have to disable commenting (discussions) on some existing pages. I’ve also used pages to create WP symposium (Forum) but not gotten rid of comments. I’m looking for help with these issues in particular and any other comments/suggestions by any one.

    My first guess on some of your other issues is plugins that have compatibility issues with each other. You have a lot of javascript on your pages too, you may want to see if you are having errors with any of that. And you have a lot of social media buttons scattered around your pages. Might want to trim some of this redundant content out.

    Your pages are slow to load with so much javascript running. If you’re using Firefox, I would the Firebug and YSlow add-ons. These give you the ability to view page content and how it affects page speed. Currently, YSlow gives your site an ‘F’ grade. Javascript is 1800 kilobytes alone. I think pages should be 1000K (total content) or less to be relatively fast loading.

    Thanks Nick. I’ll certainly try to implement your advice. Any help on disabling comments on some existing pages?
