    Hello all

I have run into a very strange problem and am trying to figure out what is going on. Basically my theme’s navigation has vanished and the posts page been set as the homepage while I usually have a static page there instead.

When checking in WP under “Settings” / “Reading”, the actual option to either set a static or a posts page is GONE… In addition, all pages from within the pages panel are gone too, yet it still says they are all published and in fact they are accessible on the live site.

I don’t know what’s messing with the navigation as well as the missing static/posts page option in the “Reading” panel…

I run a Multisite network with a template I have created, so no updates in the pipeline, however, I use this template with other sites in the same network and there all is fine and displaying as it should. I tried switching templates and all that, however, the option to change to a static page as the homepage remains gone

I wonder, if this may be some kind of a database issue, but so far I haven’t spotted anything missing.

Any help or advise is greatly appreciated!!

  • To know what is really going on at least we need a site to look at. Site URL?

    Hello Krishna

Thanks for your response. Sure, here it is: www(dot)meinonlinewettanbieter(dot)com

Right at the top (blue bar) and in the left navigation there are supposed to be entries. Also the homepage is the blog page as opposed to the static page…

I have just tried adding a new “test” page to see, if it may bring up the module again (within “Reading”). Instead, that page also just disappeared into nowhere. Where it says how many pages have been published etc. it actually features the full number of pages, however, I can’t access/see any of them in the pages dashboard. And of course, there’s the whole issue with the static/blog homepage option missing from within the “Reading” panel as well.

I’ve had database issues before, but never something like this…

    Many thanks again!

    Try these steps:
    – deactivate all plugins and see if the problem persists. If it solves the problem, activate plugins one by one until you find the problematic one
    – revert to Twenty Twelve theme and see if the issue is theme-specific
    – delete any inactive plugins
reinstall WordPress manually from a freshly downloaded copy except wp-content. Do not overwrite files/ folders but delete them before reinstalling.

Use FTP or your hosting control panel if you cannot access dashboard.
Backup your site including database so that you can restore in case anything goes wrong.

    Hi Krishna

Ok, all is fixed. I went ahead with a “repair table” for the posts entry in the My PHP Admin and that fixed it. It returned the pages in the dashboard as well as the feature to set a static or posts homepage.

No idea why the database malfunctions that way (it hasn’t triggered a warning), but well, it’s fixed.

    Thanks again for your help!

    Great! ??
