• I was recently editing a page on my WordPress site and I got the following message:

Warning: require(/home/apinch/texasspeech.org/wp-includes/load.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/apinch/texasspeech.org/wp-settings.php on line 19

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/apinch/texasspeech.org/wp-includes/load.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php:/usr/local/php5/lib/pear’) in /home/apinch/texasspeech.org/wp-settings.php on line 19

I am a complete novice at working with wordpress and have no clue how to trouble shoot this. I thought about reloading the problematic file, in case I messed something up while editing it, but it doesn’t seem like I have it or at least I can’t find it. I am sure this is a ridiculous problem but I need help- anyone have any ideas?

  • Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

Thanks- that totally worked! Any advice on how to keep stuff like this from happening in the future?

Since we don’t have any clear idea of what caused the load.php to go missing, it’s impossible to say. Could have just been a relatively rare server problem.
