• All of a sudden wordpress basically truncates the text or code when it finds anything other than a latin character. Punctuation or pound signs seem to tell the code to end at that point and everything else dissapears when I save the page or post.

    It starts like this image

and after i save it looks like this

    Its driving me mad.

I did recently enable mb_string on my php and recompiled. Is it something to do with that?

  • Hi astonadam,

Are you using any visual editor plugins? I don’t see any there, but I find that is a common cause of post save errors.

No, in fact there are no plug ins enabled at all. The weird thing is it is happening on all 6 of my sites so it must be a php thing, any ideas?

As well as deactivating all plugins, can you switch to the default Twenty Eleven/ Twelve WordPress theme and see if the problem persists?

I just tried that on one site. No change. If anything things are getting worse as I have now got spurious “?” appearing all over the place.

Do you think this is related to mb_string being enabled?

This all started as soon as I turned it on I think, but not too certain.
