HELP! All downloads blocked 4.5.91

Suddenly it is no longer possible to download files from our site!

All files receive the following error message “Access denied to this file”

Is there a solution to this? We are panicking, do we need to change the plugin?

And is the WordPress installation located in public_html or is it something like public_html\wordpress ? More specifically, if you go to dashboard > Tools > Site health > Info > Directories & sizes will the WordPress directory location point to public_html or something similar to public_html\wordpress ?

Are the file paths for files in the Downloadable Files/Versions used like an URL or real path, so https://subdomain.yourdomain.com/dlm_uploads/file.zip or /www/webvol5/l3/hs15plq1xady9ulw/[OURDOMAIN].com/public_html/dlm_uploads/file.zip? Could you give an example of such a file path?

Does the path actually contain ../../ in it?

If you go and create a new Download, could you please tell me what file path will be there ( in the Downloadable Files/Versions metabox, File URLs field )?

Could you please tell me if the Uploads directory location points to /www/webvol5/l3/hs15plq1xady9ulw/[OURDOMAIN].com/public_html/../../media.[OURDOMAIN].com/public_html in the sense that the path actually contains the ../../ string?

Also, is the directory for the subdomain located in the WordPress installation directory or is it outside of it?

Uploads directory location looks like this with /../../

/www/webvol5/l3/hs15pdlq1xay9ulw/[OURDOMAIN].com/public_html/../../media.[OURDOMAIN].com/public_html

Outside.

Our customer is starting to get stressed about this. It has been a long time now without the visitors being able to download files and everything has worked for several years without any problems.

So we may need to change the plugin if you do not have an urgent solution to the following problems.

Could you please go to dashboard > Downloads > Settings > Advanced > Miscellaneous > Other downloads path and enter the following string: /www/webvol5/l3/hs15pdlq1xay9ulw

Please remember to BACKUP your DATABASE before you modify the setting.
