I’m a total rookie & I just installed wp with simplescripts on my bluehost-ed site, but the godaddy page comes up. I could not find an index.html file in my public_html folder either.

Can anyone help? Thank you so much!

  • There will not be an index.html file when you are using WordPress.

Did you set the nameservers on your GoDaddy domain to point to your bluehost-ed site? If not, you must do that. It can take 12 – 24 hours for that to work its way around the internet.

Ok, I found the nameserver change panel and changed them to the bluehost nameservers (hopefully I did it correctly). Is that all that needs to be done… I can start setting up my new wp site?

    Thank you again in advance!

it takes 12 – 24 hours before you will see your site live at bluehost (occasionally faster)

If you actually do have an index.html this will be the problem, rmoving it will solve it. If the it is the nameservers causing the problem it might take up to 48h before you see any changes.

Isnt goddy the host that forces the Bannner across the top?

as for the index.html what i would do is modify it.
(if you have the cheap account that forces you to have banners on the top you must keep it)

Add a Enter page something about yoursite via a picture with a enter button linking to the index.php page of wordpress

    ie
https://www.domain.com/index.html – links to Below has nice picture (basic html)
    https://www.domain.com/blog/index.php – locaion of wordpress

also if i confused you try and get us the contents of the index.html from goddy and i will make something for you and explain what i did

    hope this helps some

You guys rock… thank you so much for your responses!

I changed the nameserver info on godaddy & my default wp page came up right away. Whew! One hurdle down, now on to building the thing!

I really appreciate that everyone is so helpful, even with the most mundane, repeated questions!
