503 Service Temporarily Unavailable nginx
-
Hi all,
I hope one of you can help me here as this problem is getting ridiculous now.
I have a website and a local company host the server. This past year or so maybe once or twice a week I can’t get logged into the dashboard to post articles etc.. because of the following error:
503 Service Temporarily Unavailable
nginxI have contacted the server host each and every time and they have said it is because of too many login attempts (and various other reasons)?
I would believe this except for the fact I and one other guy are the only two who login to the website and the other guy actually only logs in once or twice a week.
The server hosting company have never given me a proper explanation about why this happens and usually just say to me to “wait a couple of hours and try again” which doesn’t help me at all as I use WordPress website for my business.
For example here is just one of their replies:
“Can I just check if you did the following things that I sent to you in an email before?
“Could you provide your IP address again https://www.whatsmyip.org/. We will have this IP address added to the white list
Can you confirm if you leave your Router on all the time or is this switched off at night. If you could leave this on all the time your IP address will not change.
Can you confirm as previously advised to change the name of your WPLogin page to something else and they said this should be a work around for this. And another:
Hi Paul,
I’ve installed one of the WordPress plugins mentioned before, Limit Login Attempts, so hopefully that should help.
The server engineers have indicated that there quite a lot of login attempts on Friday so therefore they had to limit the login rate then.
Are you able to login ok now?
Hi Paul,
I was speaking with the server engineers regarding this issue and they have said that because the issue is due to other people trying to log into the account, the only way to resolve the issue would be to change the URL of the WordPress login page.
They have said that without changing the login page, that moving the website to a new server wouldn’t make a difference.
I have installed one of the plugins that was mentioned before and this has changed the link for the WordPress login page.
Can anyone on here tell me exactly what this error is, why it is happening and how to rectify it so I can ask this company to sort the problems out please?
Any help and advice would be massively appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
