    Hi there,

    I’m David Grant, developer of the plugin Sliced Invoices, among other things. I’m concerned about the similarity of both your plugin’s name and logo to our own.

    As you can see, your logo is almost identical to ours, except for the color. Using the word “Slice” in your name, in combination with the logo, makes it potentially even more confusing to users. I have already heard a few times our own users mistakenly calling us “Slice” Invoices!

    It looks like you’ve built a cool affiliate system and I don’t mean to interfere with your future success. However I would kindly ask that you consider choosing a different logo. We have used our same logo since 2015, and I think if you chose something different it would really help to reduce the confusion between our respective user bases.

    Mihai here, the co-founder of SliceWP. Thank you for reaching out with this particular concern.

    Truthfully, I cannot argue about the two logos. They are very similar.

    Our name and logo concept came from our business’ motto of “sharing a slice with your affiliates”. We considered that a pie chart with a single slice detached would be the best representation, even though we knew this logo/icon type is quite general and commonly used.

    We have checked with other plugins from the affiliates market, to make sure we differentiate ourselves, however, I have to admit we haven’t looked at WordPress plugins from other markets. I have to apologize for this unfortunate coincidence.

    Considering the two plugins activate in different markets, have distinct naming (“WordPress Invoice Plugin” and “WordPress Affiliates Plugin”) and don’t share any features, I believe the chances of confusion about which is which, between the two user bases, is very low.

    Furthermore, we’ve also seen users mistakenly calling us different names, for example “Slice”, “Slide” and “SlideWP”, instead of “SliceWP”. I believe this kind of mistakes are caused mainly by haste, opposed to confusion about another product.

    Even so, considering we refine our designs periodically, we’ll take into account your feedback on our next branding cycle. I cannot say when this will be, as these kind of changes take time and research, however we’ll look into differentiating more in the near future.
