• This is just a fun little hack I did on my site….
I enabled the great Hello-Dolly plugin for the WP control panel, but I did not really feel as inspired by the words of Louis Armstrong as Matt Mullenweg had intended. I did a quick search for something else to fit the bill, and I happened upon the lyrics to the old Ren & Stimpy classic Happy Happy, Joy Joy. I just copied them and pasted them over the Hello Dolly lyrics in the Hello.php file, and now my control panel has a LOT more personality.
Just in case you are interested, here are the lyrics to Happy Happy, Joy Joy (edited to reduce repetition).

Hello boys and girls, this is your old pal, Stinky Wizzleteats
This is a song about a whale, NO this is a song about being happy
Thats right! Its the happy happy, joy joy song!
    Happy happy, joy joy
    Happy happy, joy joy joy
I dont think your happy enough, thats right!
I’ll teach you to be happy!
I’ll teach your grandmother to suck eggs!
Now boys and girls, lets try it again…
Iff-in you ain`t the grandaddy of all liars!
The little critters of nature…they dont know that they’re ugly.
Thats very funny! A fly marrying a bumble bee!
I told you I’d shoot, but you didn’t believe me!
    WHY didn’t you believe me?
Happy happy happy happy happy happy happy happy happy happy, joy joy joyyyy!

    Cheers!

You caught me with my pants down for a minute. I will have to get back to that Last-Visit hack when I have more time…

Gee, thanks for that image. I will avert my eyes.

    sasane – Thanks !
I’m off to find some Pink Floyd lyrics ??

Ahh, summer of 1973 staring up at the night time sky while listening to Dark Side of The Moon. An experience to be heard, not read. Now if you modify the hack to play the clips…

Wow you brought back some memories. I remember watching Ren & Stimpy when it came out in (1992?). I loved that song. Log was a good song too.
    What rolls down stairs
    alone or in pairs,
    and over your neighbor’s dog?
    What’s great for a snack,
    And fits on your back?
    It’s log, log, log
    It’s log, it’s log,
    It’s big, it’s heavy, it’s wood.
It’s log, it’s log, it’s better than bad, it’s good.”
    Everyone wants a log
    You’re gonna love it, log
Come on and get your log
    Everyone needs a log
    log log log
    *whistle*
    LOG FROM BLAMMO

    Beel – Eclipse ??

Ooh, time for Fight Club quotes…

The options are really limitless with this…
You could hack in the Ten Commandments to help remind you not to kill and such…
You could enter quotes from the Tao Te Ching or the Buddha if you are looking for harmoney while editing your blog.
There is always Monty Python or Batman quotes if a little humor helps you loosen up…
If you are concerned about your writing skills, how about entering in a list of grammar rules that you tend to forget…
I am sure that I will tire of Ren & Stimpy after a while, and then who knows…

Awesome! I’d love to see a version of HD with cool quotes or other lyrics.
    Or even… wordpress tips! ??

I did this about a month ago with Psalm 23. It’s pretty cool.

Well, I guess shortly someone will hack the plugin so there will be a user selectable list of quotes/lyrics, hello_dolly(‘psalm23’:-).

I was thinking of that last night (it would be REALLY easy) but then realized it’s just so much more fun to hack together your own! What better way for rookie plugin authors to learn about wordpress, customize their weblog, and have a little fun? ??

i second wordpress tips! really helps if you have a community using wp which most of them aren’t quite used to it.

WordPress tips my foot! What’s the point with you writing wordpress tips for yourself, so you can see it on your blog?
    Just kidding, go right ahead.
In the meantime, me and Podz and Beel will work at adding all of Pink Floyd’s lyrics. Man, do I love them!
