• I just installed 1.5 last night. I was seeing the Hello Dolly lyrics in the top right corner although I didn’t have the plugin activated. In reading through a tutorial on uploading images and using them in posts I saw that there should be an “Insert Image” link where the lyrics were, and figured I’d turn off the plugin (although it was listed as not active) and see if the link appeared. So I clicked the “Activate” link (figuring I’d then click “Deactivate”) and the everything broke.

Now all I get is the following error message:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare hello_dolly() (previously declared in /home/voxnoxi/www/www/wp-content/plugins/hello.php:48) in /home/voxnoxi/www/www/wp-content/plugins/hello.php on line 47

My blog is at https://www.voxnoxi.com if anyone needs to take a look. I have no idea what’s wrong and how to fix it.

  • Use your ftp client and rename the file hello.php to something else.
    That will fix the error.

    Thanks, that worked perfectly.

Okay, I think something is not functioning right with plugins in general. I tried installing an Image Browser (https://www.bistr-o-mathik.org/code/wordpress-plugins/) that would allow me to post images, and I got the following error when I tried to activate it:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare ib_print_insert_image_link() (previously declared in /home/voxnoxi/www/www/wp-content/plugins/image-browser-plugin.php:40) in /home/voxnoxi/www/www/wp-content/plugins/image-browser-plugin.php on line 39

Is your path supposed to have “www” twice?

Weirdly, it actually is supposed to be www/www/…. I just double checked the directory structure.

that’s a lot of wwws – did you create the second www?

Nope. That’s just the way my host’s directory structure works. I’m hosted through ICDsoft.com if that helps. I know many hosts have you put your public files in a directory called “public_html” but in my case it’s “www”.

The first one holds the main domain (as the second “www” and also any subdomains, as folders named after the subdomain). So subdomain.voxnoxi.com would be www/subdomain/… but the main domain gets the weird path.

Does that make sense? I’m afraid I’m not sure what info to provide to help people find a solution.

    Thanks,
    Heather
