Hello, I’m testing and getting to know the WP Smush Plugin.
I uploaded images with the sizes below and then when I went to the server to check their weight, they got heavier, why does this happen?
Image size 1152 x 864 Pixels and original weight of 104 KB, after uploading to the server the weight went up to 153 Kb, another image with size of 864×1152 pixels and original weight of 86.9 KB, after uploading to the server the weight went up to 125 KB, why did it get heavier?
On my website, I use the Woocommerce Plugin.
I thank you in advance for your guidance and explanation, thank you.

    Hello @feijon

    I trust you’re doing well!

The free version if the Smush plugin doesn’t optimize original images. It is optimizing only the thumbnails that are created from original images.

Only the pro version can optimize original uploaded images.

If image changes the size after is being uploaded, most likely some additional data is being added to it. Please share with us an image that are you trying to optimize so we could check it on our end, as I can’t replicate it on my test site.

Please see if you have the same outcome when the Smush plugin is deactivated.

    Please advise,

    Kind regards,
    Nastia
