• Hello,

Looks like a great plugin! I’m getting reports and user information. However after setting up the plugin (seemingly having everything set correctly), I’m not seeing any heatmaps being generated.

I’m also unclear about the ?drawHeatmap=true param. Is this for testing? or do all my site urls need this param in order to collect heatmap information?

My site is HTML5 compatible, I’m using the latest FF and Chrome with the same results.

Does the schedule need to be set or can the plugin run all the time with the schedule set to default 00:00?

    I’m using Hotspots Version 4.0.8

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

To generate the heatmaps, add URL query string parameter drawHeatmap=true. This is used as a flag to turn on drawing the heatmap overlay. Heatmaps are drawn for different page widths so ensure you resize your browser window as per the heatmap data you have collected.

To collect the heatmap data, you just need to ensure the save mouse clicks and touchscreen tap option is turned on in the plugin settings. You do not need to add the URL query string parameter unless you want to draw the heatmap.

If the heatmap table in the wp-admin does not return any data, try going to the users table and filtering data there, then come back.

To test whether heatmap data is being recorded, you can turn debug mode on, view a heatmap and click or tap randomly. You should see clicks and touchscreen taps being drawn on the heatmap.

Schedule does not need to be set unless you want to restrict the times data is collected. Otherwise it will collect data all the time if on.

    Thanks
    Daniel

Still the heatmap table in the wp-admin does not return any data, I tried going to the users table and filtering data there, and view heatmaps again, but nothing appears.

I’ve also tried disabling all other forms of java-script that might cause conflict with no results again.

Could you email me personally to provide you with the URL?
If this could work. I’d gladly donate to the plugin.

    Thanks!

Ok! So I think I’ve figured out the issue on this and perhaps some bugs that need to be looked at.

The initial issue seemed to be the white-list of urls, when I removed them the plugin seemed to start tracking the heatmap clicks. Not sure if the URL needs to have the http(s) protocol prefix or not?? and or if it is because of the SSL?

Then I have the plugin running with: Hide roles: all UNCHECKED it works great exactly as expected.
When I check off [X] Hide Admin
The only thing I notice now, is that the heatmap reports list, still tracks the clicks of an admin/user, but does not render the confetti of an admin or user when viewing the heat map.

Maybe things to look into Daniel? Let me know if you find results to these potential bugs or if find it’s user specific.

    Terrific Plugin! Thanks!

Ok that’s great you got it working! The hide admin sounds like it was working as I had designed – just another filter on the heatmap. Although not saving events from a specific user may be a nice feature I can look into.

Can you elaborate more on the whitelist issue? Some screenshots of your settings and your website url would be helpful. It could be a bug as a result of having ssl.

    Thanks
    Daniel
