header/slider disappears after initial visit – only in IE

I have a strange problem I cant seem to lick. If someone is using internet explorer, when they visit my site, the page loads fine on the initial visit. On subsequent visits to the home page, the header/slider disappear. If you hit refresh, the page will load OK again.. until you go back to the home page. GRRRR!!!! please – someone – help!!!!
