My logs are showing the following warning when I run backups:

WARNING: mysqli::real_connect(): Headers and client library minor version mismatch. Headers:100020 Library:100106

I contacted my webhost about this a week ago. They were about to migrate my account to another server, and told me it would be resolved after the migration. It wasn’t. Now they are telling me “this is not an error but a warning. It seems that the database has been backed up successfully and this does not affect the process. Please let us know if you need any further assistance from our end, we will gladly help!” Which means, presumably, that they don’t consider it their problem.

Everything I’ve been able to find about this is highly technical, and seems to pertain to people who are running local versions of WordPress with their own server software, which does not apply to me.

I would like to know, first, what is this exactly? Headers of what? What library?

Secondly, are backups with this error – excuse me, warning – restorable?

    Third, is it fixable?

Fourth, if it’s fixable, is it something I should fix, or something my webhost should be fixing?

(Fifth, if I should fix it, how?)

    That’s all I need to know ??

  • Sorry, but i can’t say how to fix. That is a think your webhost must do.

OK, thanks, that’s what I thought. I persisted in asking them to look into it, and it turned out to be the result of them using legacy MySQL drivers for my site instead of native drivers. They switched to the native drivers, and the warning is resolved.
