Hi I seem to be getting the headers already sent error during the install procedure and whilst everything installed ok I am now left with a few weird errors I cannot access the admin page I just get a blank page with a row of question marks across the top and when I try to access the opening default page I get half a page also with question marks across the top and the following error message on the right hand side

Fatal error: Call to undefined function _pad_term_counts() in /home/euadvant/public_html/advantage-blog/wp-includes/taxonomy.php on line 784

I have already checked for blank spaces before and after the php tags as per the majority of posts related to this particular problem in quite a few pages now and all seems fine, so consequently I am a bit stuck

edit … after checking the page source the question marks seem to be generated before the DTD

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

The actual site is at https://www.euadvantage.com/advantage-blog

are you uploading your files in ascii mode? better still, what sort of client are using to upload files?

Both of those errors suggest to me that you need to start by reuploading ALL of the files.

Use a real ftp client, like filezilla, if you are not, already.

Thank you for your response whooami

I am using filezilla as my ftp client and GVIM as my text editor

In the meantime I will reupload all of the wordpress files but set it up in its own database and try it again

I have tried uploading all of the files from the .tar.gz package instead of the zip package and I ende up with the following parse error

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/euadvant/public_html/advantage-blog/wp-includes/category-template.php on line 125

so for now I will install wordpress via my webhosts fantastico installer and look at upgrading it to 2.7.1 later on

Thank you for your help anyway

ok the wordpress install can now be found at https://euadvantage.com/adv-blog

I will adjust it to reflect the www part of my site to stop session errors

    ffr, this:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/euadvant/public_html/advantage-blog/wp-includes/category-template.php on line 125

is exactly what one would expect to see if you were NOT uploading files in ascii mode. Just like I said in the first place.
