I am using 3.8.1. I’ve been working on my site at temp.journeypictures.com so that it was not live while I learning the software (I highly recommend NOT doing that). I was finally finished and ready to launch it. I changed the URL to journeypictures.com. None of my media showed up. I called my hosting company and they got the media to appear, but said it would still be in the subdomain folder at temp. Fine. But I am using the plugin WP Display Header, and it will not work. I decided to try to add a new header and when I uploaded a new one into WP, not the plugin, it didn’t appear. It seems to be a header problem, not a plugin problem.

I’ve read as much in this forum that would pertain to this, and I cannot get a handle on it. I am also a novice so if anyone has any advice, please pretend I’m a third grader. Thanks!

  • Change the urls back. See Changing_The_Site_URL for details of how to do this correctly without logging in. Then see Moving_WordPress.

Thank you, esmi. I really appreciate you getting back to me on this.

I ended up calling my hosting company and they moved the files for me. I was told my theme ‘broke’ when this happened so I had to re-install it. I was then able to reimport my logos without any problem. It seems to have been a theme issue, although my tech support person did say he typically sees headers disappearing when URLs are changed. You should just be able to reimport them – but if you can’t, try re-installing your theme.

Then the urls are being changed incorrectly.
