When I use Firefox (and Chrome) & go to Admin >>> Appearance >>> Widgets, I can’t see the Header “Ad” Widget. The Primary & Secondary widgets are visible but instead of the header widget there are a few pixels of a thin line that run across the column, but no header widget is visible or accessible, Deactivating plugins does not help.

However the Header Widget is visible in internet explorer.

I’m not sure if I’m the only person with this issue so maybe I can get some feedback if it is just my problem or a firefox / chrome issue.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

However the Header Widget is visible in internet explorer.

If it’s visible, it should be visible in all other browsers.

Are you using any cache plugin or server cache?
If yes, please clear it’s cache content.

Please also clear your browser history, so as to allow updated content to show on your front end.

    Thank you

Hi Denzel, thanks for the reply.

I have been using Cloudflare, and cleared the cache.

I had all ready cleared caches in browsers (as a general rule I clear my browsers automatically after each session) but I did so again.

    Unfortunately the issue remains.

    Thanks again.

    HI friends,

    I use firefox.

In Admin>>> Appearance >>> Widgets I do have the Header “AD’Widget, but the inserted text is not showing up in the header.(footer area works ok.)

If I go to Customizer >>> Header >>> Header Ad Widget >>> display widget got ticked , but no default area appearing in header.(in footer there is a visible area)
Then I go to Dynamics Sidebars and Widgets >>> Header(next to logo/title >>> press Add vidget , and fill the widget with some text. The “real wiew” is doing something but the text is not appearing.

I use the original header.php, no modifications in my child theme
Switching other plugins off makes no result too.

The “Header” widget is displayed in both Chrome and FF on my site.

    @kerdezo & @bdbrown

Thanks for you’re inputs. kerdezo, maybe this may help pin down the issue.

I’ve checked Appearance >>> Customize >>> Dynamic Sidebars and widgets >>> Create and manage widget zone and they are different from IE.

In IE when I go to the customizer, I have Primary, Secondary and Header (next to logo /title) widgets

In FF When I check customizer I have Primary, Secondary, Footer 1 Footer 2 Footer 3 Footer 4 and no Header Widget.

As it turns none of these original widget areas have a way to be deleted in any of the browsers I’ve used.

I created a New Header widget area and the trash bin icon is available. And I have transferred the old widgets to it, (the new widget area is now visible in FF and chrome — the old/original ones still are not.).

It appears I’ll need to re-create all the widget areas via the customizer.

@bdbrown – Did you recreate the widget areas or did they migrate over without any issue on the theme customizer “upgrade”?

    Question?

How do I now delete the old widget areas that don’t have the trash bin? That is, he widget areas that must have been carried over from the pre customizer ‘upgrade’. (I have mentioned in another post I really don’t like the customizer and this isn’t helping ??

I deactivated the child theme and re-activated the Hueman Theme but with no luck, the trash bins didn’t appear.

    Thoughts?

In IE when I go to the customizer, I have Primary, Secondary and Header (next to logo /title) widgets

In FF When I check customizer I have Primary, Secondary, Footer 1 Footer 2 Footer 3 Footer 4 and no Header Widget.

Either you have browser or other caches that haven’t been updated, or you’re looking at two different sites.

The default widget areas “Primary”, “Secondary”, “Header” and “Footer Full Width” cannot be deleted. You can only delete widget areas you add manually.

    Hi bdbrown.

    It is the same site.

    Thanks for your assistance.

Can you please post a link to your site? And I take it you are not using any sort of ad blocking extensions on Firefox or Chrome, like AdBlock Plus?

Never mind, I found your site from another post.

I visited the site using Chrome, and after turning off AdBlock Plus, I was able to see the ad in the right side of the header, but only if my browser was wider than 1200px. Same with Firefox. There’s a media query which hides the header widgets at 1200px.

@crouchingbruin, Yes, I am using an adblocker on FireFox and Chrome, and yes once I disable it the header widget area (in the admin widgets ) becomes visible.

Thanks for spotting that, I should have guessed that was the issue as the widget area in the header was being taken out by the adblocker software with the initial transition to the customizer.

It would appear there are still some issues to be sorted out with the move to the wordpress customizer as this is the first time I’ve had part of the admin area of a theme treated as an ad by adblocker software.

    Thanks for the tip!
