  • Just a general note on how to change the theme.

First, just change the theme copying over your plugins and see what happens without any customisation. (Do all the plugins play happily within 2020, for instance?) I see that there are some special css items from your existing theme, copy and paste them over to customisation in the 2020 theme.

Assess what is right, what could be improved and what is broken.

The next step is to correct the broken, assessing what happens as you fix things. You may inadvertantly unearth problems as you go through. Then work your way through everything. It gets easier as you go along.

Just carry on until you are happy.

I have a localhost family site using Twenty Seventeen on WP 5.3.2 and have been using the “Unique Headers” plugin by Ryan Hellyer. It works well.

    Thanks Davis and Dennis
Thanks – I was not familiar with the “Unique Header” so I tried it with the Twenty Sixteen theme. However it adds the image just below the header, and I would prefer to add it on top!
    I’m still looking! Barry
