    Hi,

Recently I updated my website. The website uses the WordPress theme Twenty Twenty-One. Now I notice that the header jumps at different subpages. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Thank you very much for your responses!

Hi @rickabelen, I’m not quite sure what you mean when you say that the header jumps at different subpages. Could you clarify the specific site behaviour you’re referring to in more detail, and explain in what way you’d prefer for it to behave? I’ll be glad to take another look. Thanks!

    Hi Kathryn,

Thank you for your reply. I made a GIF showing the jump: https://we.tl/t-hNLBTP5Lsp. The pages ‘ABELEN ARCHITECTUUR’ and ‘Contact’ are offset from the pages ‘Projecten’, ‘Over’ and ‘Bibliotheek’.

This may be due to the scroll bar on the right side of the pages. The pages ‘ABELEN ARCHITECTUUR’ and ‘Contact’ cannot scroll, while the rest can.

If possible I would like the pages not to jump from each other. Do you think that is possible?

Hi @rickabelen – thanks for making the GIF! For security reasons I won’t be able to download a file that way, but you’re welcome to post it to a service like https://imgur.com/ or upload it to the media library of your site so I can take a look that way.

This may be due to the scroll bar on the right side of the pages. The pages ‘ABELEN ARCHITECTUUR’ and ‘Contact’ cannot scroll, while the rest can.

Whether there’s a right-hand scrollbar or not will depend on the size of the visitor’s browser window.

I looked at the contact page on my laptop, for example, and I do see a scrollbar there. On a larger monitor, it’s normal that there may not be a right-hand scrollbar, due to the shorter length of that page.

This is very normal web behaviour, and not generally something that needs manipulating. I don’t recommend trying to force a scrollbar on pages that don’t actually need one, as you’d be bypassing the way the browser is meant to work.

Thank you for your response and explanation. The GIF can be viewed and downloaded via this link: https://imgur.com/a/FcPt00F.

If it is normal web behavior as you indicate, I will gladly take your advice not to do anything about it. Although it is still a bit strange to see the jumps on subpages.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi @rickabelen

Thank you for your response and explanation. The GIF can be viewed and downloaded via this link: https://imgur.com/a/FcPt00F.

I’m afraid the link is returning an error, the image or video didn’t upload. I would suggest adding a small video showing the page jumps to your site’s media library and then sharing the link.

As Kathryn mentioned the scroll depends on the browser you are using, on my screen, I don’t see the escrow because I am using a 16inch laptop.

    Hi Thelmachido,

Thank you for your reply. I had already removed the link, and take your advice not to do anything about it.

    Thanks for your help!
